Joined UNESCO: 1 May 1953
On 4 August 2008 the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations informed the Organization that the formal name "Nepal" was replaced by "the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal". The formal name "Kingdom of Nepal" had been replaced by "Nepal" as of 22 August 2006.
