Aims |

To promote unity among national students’ unions in Africa; protect the rights and well-being of students in Africa; work for equal access to education, the independence of universities, and authentic reform and democratization in Africa; foster an awareness among the peoples of Africa of the problems which their continent must address and of the need for African students to be fully involved in all efforts aimed at finding solutions to those problems; be fully involved in the struggles of all peoples against imperialism, colonialism, apartheid and racism, and for global security and co-operation. Priority issues: Protection of students’ rights; literacy; environment

Undertakes programmes on environment and development; campaigning against illiteracy, drug abuse and AIDS; develops co-operation with other regional and international youth and students organisations; net-working with related NGOs and IGOs on issues of common concerns; to facilitate youth/student participation in local and international seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences; collects information on students for policy purposes, etc.
